The Allegan County Fair broke new attendance records this year.
The fair was Sept. 9-17 with an estimated attendance of 270,370 people, up 69 percent from 2010 and 5 percent from the largest crowd year of 2004, said Saree Miller, fair manager.
“To say we had an amazing year would be an understatement,” she said. “Several new records were hit and we would like to thank everyone for coming out to the fair this year. The entertainment was outstanding and we plan to continue with this grade of entertainment.”
The grandstand area holds 12,500 concert-goers.
Carnival sales along the midway increased 26 percent over last year and 3 percent from the previous record year in 2009.
This year’s fair had good weather and warm temperatures through its entire run. Last year, it rained five days out of the fair’s run.
